Google just released a new audio search tool in their Google Labs department. The current demo version searches political speeches for words. Type in a word and it finds them in the videos.
I've been working on the guts of a system to do a semantic audio search similar to this in concept (though vastly different in execution). Type in a word and find the audio/video tracks that have instances of that word. For example, type in "hyena" and it returns all of the audio and/or video files with hyena sounds in them. I'm still working...
P.S., GMail also just released the greatest, most obvious feature ever: forgotten attachment warnings. My future email recipients thank you.
Super-secret special stuff is afoot in the Ming household...
I've added a link (to the left) to go directly to Thumper's multimedia page. He may not be quite a chubby monster any more, but the is indelible.
OK, the last few videos have all been converted to flash now. They should play for everyone without installing super-secret, extra-special codecs. If you don't have flash installed, it should direct you to the Flash page where you can install the software automatically.
More adorable Thumper action on his page. He now prefers to wield the spoon himself. Sometimes with great civility; sometimes with great inventiveness.
